BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - A goal by senior Colin Rathe with less than eight minutes to play was the difference as the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team downed Alma, 1-0, to win the "Clash of the Titans" tournament at Neis Field on Sunday, Sept. 7.

The Titans improved to 2-2-0 this season while the Scots slipped to 1-1-2.

Rathe got his third goal of the year on an assist from senior Jared Krebs and junior Jimmy Connolly at 82:29 for the game's only scoring. The Titans outshot Alma, 15-11, and had five shots on goal compared to seven for the Scots.

IWU junior goalkeeper Erick Eklin made seven saves in the win.

Illinois Wesleyan plays at Benedictine on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. Benedictine was a 2-0 winner over Wisconsin-Platteville in the other "Clash of the Titans" game at Neis Field Sunday.
