Cassandra Leishman held up as the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated No. 7-ranked University of Chicago, 1-0, on Thursday, Sept. 25 in Chicago.
The Titans won for the second straight time and improved to 7-2-0 while the Maroons (7-1-0) took their first loss of the season.
Leishman's goal, her second of the year, came on an assist by
Jenna Baker at 7:28 and was the first time this season that a Chicago opponent had scored in the first half.
The Maroons outshot the Titans 9-8 and IWU sophomore goalkeeper
Dana Jourdan made three saves. The Titans had three corner kicks to two for Chicago. Maroons starting goalkeeper Jacinda Reid played the first half with one save with one goal allowed while senior Mallory Morse made one save in the second half.
