Tomko Gets Two Goals as IWU Soccer Wins

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Sophomore Skyler Tomko scored a pair of goals off assists from senior Julie Govedarica as the Illinois Wesleyan women's scccer team cruised to a 4-1 win over St. Mary's (Ind.) at Neis Field on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The Titans improved to 2-1-0 while the Belles slipped to 1-2-0.

IWU opened the scoring at the 5:40 mark on a goal by freshman Cassandra Leishman on an assist from sophomore Amanda Kaiser. The Titans' second goal came unassisted from Sydney Fox on a rebound off a deflected shot at 32:24.

Tomko's first header put IWU ahead 3-0 at 38:35 and her second header in front of the box came at 49:06 to stake IWU to a 4-0 advamtage.

St. Mary's only goal came at 64:52 by Jarmy Jenn, her first of the year.

Dana Jourdan played 59:11 in goal, Shannon Green saw 21:49 of action and made one save and Allisa Gurtner played the final nine minutes in goal. IWU outshot the Belles, 21-2, with 10 shots on goal.

What's Next?
The Titans will host Earlham College in another non-conference match at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.
