IWU Men's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight Match

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan scored three unanswered goals, including two in the second half, to gather a 3-1 nonconference win over the University of Dubuque at Neis Field on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The fourth straight win boosts the IWU record to 4-2-0 while Dubuque is 1-3-2.

IWU trailed 1-0 after a goal by Dubuque's Brandon Wiley at 16:38 but a goal by junior Mitch Billimack on an assist from junior Drake Leary at 37:46 tied the game before halftime.

Senior John Pisani scored a goal off a cross from senior Jared Krebs at 57:26 to stake IWU to a 2-1 lead and freshman J.J. Slomba took advantage of a misplayed ball by the Spartans' keeper to score at 60:15 on a helper by senior Colin Rathe.

Illinois Wesleyan outshot Dubuque 23-8 and Titan junior keeper Erick Eklin made three saves compared to nine for Riley Jensen of Dubuque.

Illinois Wesleyan plays another 3:30 p.m. home match on Sunday, Sept. 14, against the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman.
