Box Score 2 WINONA, Minn. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team comes away with a 1-3 record from the 8th annual Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona, Minn., after losing three-set matches to St. Catherine and St. Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday, Aug. 30.
The Titans lost to St. Catherine, 17-25, 23-25, 23-25, then lost to the host school St. Mary's 15-25,21-25, 16-25, at the Gostomski Fieldhouse.
Against St. Catherine, senior
Maddie Greybar led the team with nine kills while freshman
Kyleigh Block had six and freshman
Maisy Bowden and senior
Kinzie Schweigert each had five kills. Greybar and Block paced IWU with 10 digs each and freshman
Nicole Bing had nine digs and 12 set assists. Sophomore
Colleen Rynne had a team-high 13 set assists.
In the match against St. Mary's, Block had eight kills and seven digs while Schweigert had six kills. Greybar and sophomore
Emily Knowles each contributed four kills. Sophomore
Loryn Bruer's 20 digs were a team-best and Rynne led the Titans with 21 assists.
What's Next?Illinois Wesleyan will play next in their own Barker Chevrolet Classic I against Greenville College at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the Shirk Center. IWU will face Ohio Northern on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before playing Lake Forest at 10 a.m. and the defending national champion Calvin College at 2 p.m.
