Box Score GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team was able to bounce back from yesterday's setback against Ohio Northern to defeat Birmingham-Southern, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30) at Reavis Stadium in Greencastle, Ind.
The win in the DePauw Classic brings the Titans to 1-1 overall while the the Panthers fall to 1-1 overall.Â
After being held scoreless in the first half of play, IWU broke through for three goals in the second half, including two in a three minute stretch. Senior
Kate Dunaway broke a 0-0 tie in the 68th minute (67:24) with an unassisted goal to put the Titans up 1-0. Two minutes later,
Julie Govedarica found the back of the net with a goal assisted by
Emily Johnson. The Panthers would get on the scoreboard in the 78th minute (77:38) to cut the deficit in half before IWU put the game out of reach with an unassisted goal by
Sydney Fox in the 81st minute (80:51).Â
What's Next?IWU opens their home season as it will play host to St. Mary's College (Ind.) on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at Neis Field.Â
