NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Concluding a three-game series against conference foe North Central, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team came up short in both games by scores of 3-2 and 7-4 on Saturday (April 19) afternoon in Naperville, Ill.
 
After the series sweep, the Titans have slipped to 16-13 and 10-5 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Cardinals improved to 17-10 overall and 9-6 in the CCIW.
 
In the first game, North Central scored all three of its runs in the third inning and held the lead until IWU scored its two runs in the eighth.
 
With none out and the bases loaded, Derek Idstein singled up the middle to score Jack Troike and Adam Glogovsky, who had reached on an error,  crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by senior Bobby Czarnowski. The game ended on a 4-6-3 double play.
 
IWU starting pitcher Matt Hart (4-1) suffered the loss, pitching all eight innings and allowing only six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Kris Singh (5-0) picked up the win with a complete game five-hitter.
 
In the second game, North Central touched IWU starter Robert Romano (2-1) for five runs in the first inning and Romano allowed seven hits in two innings of work.
 
Nick Hahn, senior Jonathan Frericks and Glogovsky each had two hits in the nine-hit Titan attack and Frericks had the team's only extra base hit, a double.
