MOLINE, Ill. - Trailing early, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team rallied to take a lead midway through the game but a late comeback wasn't enough in an 11-8 loss to Augustana on Tuesday, April 15, at Swanson Stadium/Brunner Field in Moline, Ill.

The Titans are 16-9 overall and 10-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings improved to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference. IWU fell behind 4-0 in the first inning and battled back to claim a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth. But the Vikings piled on four runs in the sixth to go up 8-5 and added three more in the seventh to lead 11-5. Three Titan runs in the eighth were not enough against Augustana, who collected 17 hits off seven Titan pitchers.

The top four hitters in the IWU lineup - juniors Tim Coonan and Derek Idstein and seniors Bobby Czarnowski and Jon Frericks - each had two hits in a 12-hit attack. Idstein had a two-run double and Czarnowski had a two-run home run. Sophomore designated hitter Adam Glogovsky had two hits and three runs batted in.

Reliever John Frueh (0-1) was saddled with the pitching loss as he allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in 2/3 of an inning.

What's Next?
The Titans play at Benedictine University at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lisle, Ill. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday but pushed back a day due to Eagles' scheduling conflicts.
