DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team extended its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin winning streak to five with wins of 8-4 and 16-5 at Millikin in Decatur, Ill., on Tuesday, April 1.

Illinois Wesleyan improved to 10-7 overall and 5-0 in the CCIW, while Millikin fell to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

In the first game, the Titans trailed 4-3 before scoring four runs with two outs in the top of the sixth t snatch a 7-4 lead. Junior centerfielder Tim Coonan singled and stole second and junior shortstop Derek Idstein walked before senior leftfielder Bobby Czarnowski, who finished with three hits and four runs batted in, hit a double to score Coonan and Idstein and put IWU ahead 5-4. Senior centerfielder Jon Frericks then homered to right field for two more Titan runs.

Junior Dan Truesdale (1-1) went five shutout innings in relief of freshman starting pitcher Sean Coonan. Truesdale walked three and allowed three hits while striking out one. Junior John Munyon earned his third save with three strikeouts, one walk and one hit in the final two innings.

In game two, Czarnowski was 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Tim Coonan and Idstein each added three hits and three runs scored, with Idstein driving in three runs. The Titans put the game out of reach early with nine runs on six hits with the help of four Big Blue errors in the second inning.

Freshman Kyle Snedeker (1-1), the first of five IWU pitchers, got the win in the game that was shortened to seven innings by the 10-run rule.
