Titan Bats Silent in 7-0 Loss at Webster

SAUGET, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan managed only three singles and got two runners as far as third base in a 7-0 shutout loss to No. 8-ranked Webster University on Sunday, March 23, at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill.

Illinois Wesleyan is now 5-7 while Webster is 8-3. The scheduled game between IWU and No. 12-ranked Concordia Chicago was cancelled due to cold weather.

Senior leftfielder Bobby Czarnowski, freshman second baseman Jarrod Juskiewicz and sophomore designated hitter Adam Glogovsky got the Titan singles.

Freshman starting pitcher Nick Huskisson (0-2) took the loss as he went the first 2 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Against Wesleyan, senior Zach Schneider (2-0) made his second start of the season and went seven innings, giving up just two hits and two walk, no runs, and struck out three.  He has a 0.00 ERA in 13 innings pitched in 2014.

Illinois Wesleyan will open its 2014 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season with a doubleheader at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
