CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Illinois Wesleyan hung on for an 11-9 win at Wabash in Crawfordsville, Ind., on Thursday, March 20. Titan junior Nick Hahn had a four-hit day as IWU got 16 hits as a team to end a five-game losing streak.

The Titans, who had not scored in 22 innings, improved to 4-5 while the Little Giants slip to 5-6. IWU scored a run in the fourth, added four in both the fifth seventh and and tacked on two more much needed runs in the ninth as Wabash rallied from an 11-3 deficit with six in their last at bat against three IWU pitchers.

IWU took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when sophomore designated hitter Sam Santa Maria had a two-out single to chase home Nick Hahn, who led off the inning with a single.

A bases-loaded double by senior centerfielder Jon Frericks drove in Jake Capko, Derek Idtsein and Tim Coonan, then Frericks went to third on a passed ball and scored on Hahn's sacrifice fly.

Runs batted in from Frericks, senior leftfielder Bobby Czarnowski and third baseman Pat Mollo accounted for the four Titan tallies in the seventh.

Senior righthander Matt Hart (2-0) went the first six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Jonathan Vlk picked up his first save of the year, striking out the only hitter he faced.

Breaking out of a team-wide hitting slump, Coonan had three hits while Frericks (who finished with four RBI), Czarnowski, Mollo and Santa Maria each had two.
