IWU Baseball Loses 1-0 at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The hitting woes of the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team continued as IWU got only three hits in a 1-0 loss to Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute, Ind., on Friday, March 14.

The Titans lost for the fourth straight time and are 3-4 while the Engineers, who also only got four hits, are 4-4.

Junior centerfielder Tim Coonan got two hits and sophomore third baseman Matthew Mardis got one for IWU.

Four IWU pitchers shut down Rose-Hulman. Junior starter Robert Romano and junior Dan Truesdale both went three innings and allowed one hit each whie senior John Frueh (one hit) and freshman Sean Coonan each pitched an inning. Truesdale took the loss as Rose-Hulman scored in the fifth on a double, a sacrifice bunt and a steal of home.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan continues play in the frequently-revised Rose-Hulman tournament schedule, playing Concordia University Chicago at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15. The scheduled game against Alma for Sunday has now been cancelled.
