IWU on Wrong End of No-Hitter in 3-1 Loss

JACKSON, Miss. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team got no hits in a 3-1 loss at Millsaps on Wednesday, March 12 as Nathan Harrell and James Perkins combined for the no-hitter in Jackson, Miss.

Illinois Wesleyan slipped to 3-2 this spring while the Majors improved to 10-7.

Seven Titans reached base and Majors' rightfielder William Chenoweth sprawled out for a catch of a line drive to rob the Titans' Tim Coonan of a single leading off the eighth inning.

Millsaps led 2-0 when IWU scored its lone run in the fourth when Bobby Czarnowski led off and was hit by pitch. First baseman Nick Hahn then reached on an error by the second baseman, sending Czarnowski to second. Freshman shortstop Jarrod Juskiewicz laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third and sophomore Matthew Mardis reached on a fielder's choice as Czarnowski scored on a throwing error by the ifrst baseman.

Junior Adam Seifert (0-1), the second of nine IWU hurlers employed in the game, took the loss, allowing one run on a double, a walk, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.

What's Next?
The Titans move on to Memphis, Tenn., where they will play a 2 p.m. game on Thursday (March 13) against Christian Brothers.
