Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Five players scored in double figures as the No. 3-ranked Washington U. Bears handed the No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan Titans a 90-72 loss in St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The Titans' six-game winning streak was snapped as they fall to 6-2 while the Bears are 10-0 this season.
"It was a very physical game, a hard-fought game, and I tip my cap to Washington U. They were tougher than we were tonight," said IWU head coach
Ron Rose in a postgame interview with WJBC's Eric Stock. "They outrebounded us by 12 and had 15 offensive rebounds and that was a big story in this game. They were able to build up leads on second chance points."
Washington U. had 42 rebounds to 33 for IWU and the Titans committed 12 turnovers to seven for the Bears. Washington U. had a 13-point lead at 30-17 with 9:03 remaining in the first half but IWU rallied back to within six at 42-36 with 1:34 left on a 3-pointer by senior
Pat Sodemann, and trailed by eight at intermission, 44-36.
But the Titans would come all the way back and snag a 53-52 lead on a
Jordan Nelson 3-pointer with 16:20 to go. But the Bears went on a 9-0 run to get ahead 61-53 and held a double-digit lead for nearly all of the second half and for the final 8:16.

Dylan Overstreet led the Titans with 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. "Dylan really battled and, as an upperclassman, knows what it takes to play in tough games like this," Rose said.
