John Pisani scored his second goal of the season 57 seconds into overtime to lift the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team to 1-0 win at Augustana on Saturday, Oct. 4.The Titans pick up their third win in four matches to improve to 7-6-0 and 1-0-0 in the CCIW while the host Vikings fall to 7-4-0 and 0-0-1 in the CCIW. With the win, IWU has won three straight CCIW conference opening matches dating back to Sept. 29, 2012.
After being held scoreless in regulation,
Dino Karas was able to find Pisani who found the back of the net to end the match at the 90:57 mark. Pisani's other goal of the year, also a game winner, came back on Sept. 13 against Dubuque.
IWU was outshot by the Vikings 12-11, and was even with Augustana in shots on goal with five a piece. Senior
Mark Streid picked up his third win of the season, recording his first shutout of the year with five saves.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will complete a six match road trip at Carthage on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The Titans are 3-2 during the road trip going into the match.
