Eight Players Score as IWU Beats Vikings, 10-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Eight different players found the back of the net with goals as the No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team handled North Park, 10-1, on a misty night at Neis Field on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

The win sends the IWU overall record to 10-3-0 and 2-1-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while North Park slips to  6-8-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the CCIW.

Skyler Tomko and Sarah Trach each had two goals for IWU and sophomore Amanda Kaiser set a school record with four assists in the game. The old record was three, shared by Tillie Bill (Wis.-Whitewater; Oct 9, 2013) and Lyndsay O'Brien twice (North Central; Oct 9, 2004; at Principia College; Oct 11, 2005).

The 10 goals is tied for second most in an IWU game and the seven assists and 27 total points are tied for fourth most in an game.

The Titans got five goals in each half and outshot the Vikings, 40-3, with 21 shots on goal for IWU compared to 3 for North Park. IWU sophomore goalkeeper Dana Jourdan had two saves while North Park's Megan Durkee had six and Claudia Rogel had five.

What's Next?
The annual "Play for the Cure" match will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, when the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team hosts the No. 6 ranked Wheaton Thunder at Neis Field as part of Homecoming weekend ... All money from ticket sales, t-shirt sales, raffles and silent auction profits will benefit the Bloomington-Normal Community Cancer Center. Among the auction items are a hockey stick signed by members of the Chicago Blackhawks and tickets to a Chicago Bulls game.
