Box Score KENOSHA, Wisc. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team was unable to overcome two first half goals, falling 2-0 on the road at Carthage on Saturday, Oct. 11. With the loss, IWU falls to 7-7-0 and 1-1-0 in the CCIW while the host Red Men picked up their second consecutive win to improve to 7-6-0 and 1-1-0 in the CCIW.
The match was physical throughout, as both teams accounted for four yellow cards in the game and tallied a combined 33 fouls. Carthage led from the opening minutes, scoring in the second minute (1:46) before adding an insurance goal at the 30:05 mark. Both teams were held scoreless in the second half, as the shots for the match were even at 11 a piece.
The Titans were led offensively by junior
Carlo Fava wth three shots, and
John Pisani and
Jimmy Connolly each had two. Senior
Mark Streid made a season-high seven saves in the match, surpassing his previous high of five at Augustana.
What's Next?IWU will play its first home match since September, 17, playing host to CCIW foe North Park on Oct. 15. The match will get underway at 7:30 p.m. from Neis field, and will be the Titans CCIW home opener.
