Andrew Ziemnik led five players in double figure scoring with 16 and Illinois Wesleyan closed its non-conference schedule with a 10-1 record with an 83-67 win over Franklin College on Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Shirk Center.
Franklin, who trailed only 33-30 at halftime, slipped to 5-5 as the Grizzlies were outscored 50-37 in the second half.
Wesleyan led by a 43-42 score with 15:02 to play in the game when they went on a 14-2 run to snag a commanding 13-point lead at 57-44 with 11:26 left and held on the remainder of the game, extending to as much as a 22-point advantage at 80-58 with 4:01 to play.
IWU and Franklin each gathered in 39 rebounds and Franklin committed 14 turnovers to eight for Illinois Wesleyan.
