CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team had four players reach double figures, propelling the Titans to in a 74-57 victory over North Park Saturday (Jan. 11) evening at North Park Gymnasium in Chicago.

The Titans bounced back after a loss to Augustana three nights ago to improve their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin record to 2-1 and 12-2 overall. The Vikings are 0-3 in the league and 3-11 overall.

"North Park has some talented guys, they play with a lot of energy, they really guarded us and moved around between defenses," IWU head coach
Ron Rose said on a WJBC postgame interview. "We feel pretty good about coming up here with a win. Now we'll have to come out Wednesday ready to play Millikin."

Victor Davis (13 points, 10 rebounds), junior
Pat Sodemann (12 points), and sophomore
Mike Marietti (10 points) combined for 51 points to contribute to the Titan win.

IWU started out slow, missing its first seven shots from the field, while North Park led 10-3 with 13:45 to go in the first half before the Titans went on a 22-0 run in the next six minutes to get a 25-10 lead with 7:38 before halftime, when they closed the first ahead 39-22.

The Vikings pushed IWU defensively in the second half, but the Titans were able to hold on despite an even 35-35 offensive performance from both squads.

The Titans outrebounded North Park 46-36 and forced 11 turnovers.
