Women's Soccer Gets 1-1 Tie at Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Freshman Alison Seger scored the Titans' only goal as Illinois Wesleyan battled Cal.-Santa Cruz to a 1-1 tie through two overtimes on Sunday, Sept. 8, at the "Slugfest Tournament" in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Banana Slugs (3-1-1) were the first team to see offensive action, as Sara Sadler knocked thru a goal off a corner kick, setting the score at 1-0 in the 11th minute.

The freshman duo of Amanda Kaiser and Seger conntected for the Titans (2-0-2) near the 12-yard marker to even the score, 1-1, in the 48th minute.

The overtime tradition at the "Slugfest Tournament" continued for IWU, as the Titans and Cal.-Santa Cruz entered into extra time. Despite eight shots between the two overtimes, no goals were scored and the two teams concluded with a tie.

The Titans play at No. 4-ranked Washington U. in St. Louis on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
