BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a scoreless first half, the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team got goals from three different people to get a 3-0 nonconference win over Benedictine on Sunday night, Sept. 15, at Neis Field.
Illinois Wesleyan improved to 4-2-1 while the Eagles slip to 1-4-0.
Sophomore
Jimmy Connolly opened the scoring at 59:56 on a perfectly placed header off a corner from senior
Angelo Catalano. Connolly assisted with a corner kick on IWU's next goal from sophomore
Drake Leary, his first of the year, at 81:24.
Junior
Colin Rathe scored at 84:33 as he beat the defense on the right side and took it in for a goal to make it 3-0.
Illinois Wesleyan held a 19-5 edge in shots and sophomore
Erick Eklin earned his first win of the year with the shutout in goal, making three saves.
