BLOOMINGTON, Ill – The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team is no stranger to overtime battles, and the Titans' game against University of Chicago was no different. IWU came up with the win, 3-2, in double OT at Neis Soccer Field Saturday afternoon.

Mary Kate Schmidt scored the winning goal in the 107th minute when the ball deflected to the top of the box extending the Titans' record to 3-1-2.

The Maroons were the first to reach the back of the net in regulation, after Micaela Harms knocked it past Titan goalkeeper
Zoie Samaan, putting the score at 1-0 in the 13
th minute.

The home team responded minutes later when
Kristina Dolak scored on UCW goalie, Jacinda Reid, to tie up the score 1-1 with 18:43 on the clock.

The Titans scored once again, this time in the second half, when
Sydney Fox knocked it back, assisted by
Cassidy Tomkins, to steal the lead, 2-1, in the 66
th minute.

However, the Maroons responded near the end of regulation with 87:42 on the clock, splitting the ball through the defense, taking the game to its first overtime, 2-2.

Schmidt ended the game with her goal, and handed the Maroons' their second loss of the season, putting their record at 3-2-0.

In the 107 minutes of play, Samaan had two saves, while Reid had eight.

The Titans will return to the field Tuesday, Sept. 17 against Principia College at Neis Field. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
