IWU Men's Soccer Ties Webster After 2 OTs

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Clash of the Titans Tournament came to a close Saturday evening after the Illinois Wesleyan and Webster University men's soccer teams played two overtimes before concluding in a tie, 2-2, at Neis Soccer Field.
 
After a deep throw in, Webster's BJ Dwyer headed the ball in past IWU goalkeeper Andrew Reed to put the Gorloks in the lead, 1-0, with 17:21 on the clock.
 
The second half heated up when Webster jumped ahead by one more goal, 2-0, 64:27 into the game when Jamie Lawrence intercepted a shot to clear it in.
 
Nearly three minutes later, the Titans were able to create action in the net when Declan Geraghty headed the ball in after en entry kick to cut the Gorloks' lead by one, 2-1.
 
IWU's Angelo Catalano hit a quick shot past Webster goalie Brian Woodward with 83:05 minutes on the clock to even out the game, 2-2.
 
Both overtimes were scoreless, as Reed tallied no saves in the 110 minutes played. Webster's Woodward had six saves.
 
IWU will host Simpson College, Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m.
