Titan Baseball Shut Out by Cougars

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the first time since April 14, 2012, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team was shut out, losing a 5-0 decision to Concordia Chicago at Horenberger Field on Monday (May 6).

The No. 18-ranked Titans are 29-9 while the Cougars, ranked No. 22 in the weekly D3baseball.com poll, improved to 32-5. The last IWU shutout was at the hands of Carthage in a 10-0 loss.

Sophomore Nick Hahn had a double and sophomore Tim Coonan had a single for the only two Titan hits with Coonan's hit coming with two outs in the sixth inning for the first safety.

Robert Romano (1-1) took the loss, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout.

What's Next?
The No. 1-seed Titans open play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament at Horenberger Field with a 3 p.m. game against No. 4-seed Wheaton.
