IWU Stays Alive in CCIW Tourney With Win Over North Park

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fifth, highlighted by a two-run homer by Bobby Czarnowski, en route to a 10-2 win over North Park in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament on Saturday (May 11) at Horenberger Field.

The Titans improved to 31-11 and will play another Saturday game against Augustana. Should IWU beat Augustana, the two teams would face off again on Sunday at 11 a.m.

♦ With two outs in the fifth, senior Kevin Callahan walked ahead of Czarnowski's towering homer over the tall rightfield fence. IWU tacked on two more runs in the inning on two Viking errors, a single by Anthony Lopez and a passed ball.

♦ IWU scored another run in the sixth, added two in the seventh and three more in the eighth as Callahan drove home two runs and Czarnowski added another RBI hit.

♦ Lopez finished with three hits while senior Zach Scott, junior Jon Frericks, and senior A.J. Nathan each had two hits as IWU banged out a total of 13.

♦ Sophomore Matt Hart went the distance for the Titans and improved to 5-2 on the mound. He allowed eight hits and struck out five while walking two.
