Nick Hahn each had three hits as the No. 16-ranked Illinois Wesleyan baseball team held off a Monmouth rally to claim an 8-5 nonconference win on the road on Tuesday (April 16).

Derek Idstein, who went to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior
Anthony Lopez. Senior
Zach Scott reached on an error and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Shortstop
Matt Workman singled to load the bases and sophomore
Tim Coonan singled to score Idstein. Frericks then brought home Scott on a single. Senior
A.J. Nathan walked to score Workman and Hahn drove in Coonan with a single. Batting around in the order, Idstein singled to score Frericks to stake the Titans to an 8-2 lead.

Matt Conrad (1-1) got the pitching win as he worked three innings and allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Sophomore
John Munyon earned his second save of the year as he bailed the Titans out of a bases-loaded situation with an 8-5 lead in the eighth by striking out the final two batters.

The Titans moved up to No. 16 (from 22) in the
Division III poll done by the American Baseball Coaches Association and improved to No. 21 (from 27) in the
D3baseball.com poll.
