DECATUR, Ill. – The No. 22-ranked Illinois Wesleyan baseball team swung big bats, collecting five doubles and seven singles, in a 10-1 win against Millikin on Thursday (April 11) at Sunnyside Park in Decatur.
No. 22 IWU remains undefeated in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, 9-0, and is 18-5 overall. The Big Blue drop to 1-8 in the league and 7-12 overall.
♦ The Titans opened the game strong, scoring two in the first, two in the second and two in the fourth to go ahead 6-0. In the first, sophomore
Tim Coonan scored on a single to right field from senior
Kevin Callahan, who had two hits and two RBI. Callahan scored on an error after
Bobby Czarnowski had singled to right.
♦ Coonan, who had three hits and scored three runs in the game, scored in the second when Callahan doubled to left field. Callahan then crossed the plate on another Big Blue error after a single by senior
A.J. Nathan.
♦ In the fourth, the Titans scored two when
Nick Hahn doubled to left field.
♦ IWU added four runs in the top of the seventh on doubles by Coonan and senior
Zach Scott, a single by junior centerfielder
Jon Frericks and a sacrifice fly by senior shortstop
Matt Workman.
♦ Titan sophomore pitcher
John Munyon improved to 5-1 on the mound, striking out six in six innings while allowing five hits with no walks.
