BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team opened its season with a come-from-behind 6-4 win in 10 innings against No. 8-ranked Adrian College before losing 10-6 to Huntingdon in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday, March 9.
HUNTINGDON GAME
♦ The Titans (1-1) got their six runs on 13 hits and Huntingdon scored 10 times on 11 hits. The Hawks, who improved to 10-5 this spring, scored five runs in the first.
♦ Illinois Wesleyan scored runs in the fifth, aded one in the seventh and two more in the ninth.

Jon Frericks had three hits to give him a six hit day in the two games.

♦ The Titans got their six runs on 12 hits while Adrian scored four times on seven hits.

Jon Frericks singled to center and went to third on a double by senior
Kevin Callahan. With one out, senior catcher
A.J. Nathan grounded out to short to score Frericks.
♦ In the eighth, designated hitter
Nick Hahn reached on an error on the third baseman and stole second. After moving to third on a groundout Hahn scored on a two-out single up the middle by Frericks.
♦ Junior leftfielder
Bobby Czarnowski led off the ninth with a home run to right to make it 4-3 and Nathan followed with a single. He went to second on a sacrifice before senior shortstop
Matt Workman delivered a two-out single to tie the game at 4-4.
♦ The Titans scored two in 10th when Callahan walked and Czarnowski singled. Nathan then singled to left to bring in Callahan and Czarnowki scored on an error by the leftfielder.
Inside the Box Score
♦ Senior lefthander
Nick Mehn picked up the win, throwing three innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two.
♦ Frericks and Nathan each had three hits while Czarnowski and Workman each had two.
♦ Nathan also drove home two runs.
