BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - No. 3-ranked Illinois Wesleyan was extended to eight innings in the opener to earn a 2-1 win and got a 6-2 win in the nightcap in a sweep of DePauw at IWU Field on Saturday (March 30).

Illinois Wesleyan improved to 12-1 on the season while DePauw dropped to 4-12.

Game One
♦  The Tigers broke a scoreless game with a solo home run by Linsey Button in the sixth and  IWU tied the game in the bottom of the inning when sophomore leftfielder Audra James led off with an infield single and went to second on a wild pitch. She scored on a triple by senior centerfielder Keri Leach.

♦  James scored the winning run in the eighth. Placed on second by the international tie-breaker, she went to third on a Leach single to left and scored on a single up the middle by junior Allie Riordan, who had three hits in the opener.

♦  Junior Molly McCready (5-0) struck out 11 in eight innings and allowed five hits while walking three.

Game Two
♦  DePauw struck first in game two with a run in the top of the first. But IWU countered with a pair. With two outs, Riordan was hit by a pitch and senior third baseman Emma Clark homered to left center.

♦  The Titans scored a run, again with two outs, in the third when Clark walked, stole second and scored on a single by sophomore Hannah Bowen.

♦  After DePauw drew to within one at 3-2 in the sixth on a home run by Haleigh Chasteen, IWU got three runs in the last of the sixth. Junior catcher Kaity Crane singled and, with one out, centerfielder Sara Rogers delivered a two-run homer. Senior shortstop Courtney Martin then doubled down the leftfield line and stole third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

♦  Freshman Jenna Noland (3-0) was the winning pitcher, going six innings in relief of starter Alyssa Vorel. Noland allowed three hits and a run and struck out six.
