CLINTON, Miss. – The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team began its two-game Tuesday trip in Clinton Miss., at Mississippi College where the Titans picked up a 6-1 win. Less than three hours later, IWU traveled to Jackson, Miss., to face Millsaps College. In the second game, the Titans lost, 8-1.
The Titans now sport a 3-2 overall record.
Mississippi College Game
♦ The Titans shut out the Choctaws, 6-1, to advance their record to 3-1.
♦ IWU scored early in the first when
Jon Frericks stole second, causing MC to make a throwing error, and allowing
Tim Coonan to advance to home putting the Titans up, 1-0.
♦ Frericks then scored off a single from
Bobby Czarnowski, to put IWU ahead, 2-0, before the Choctaws ever went to bat.

Kevin Callahan earned the Titans' third run in the third inning after a Czarnowski ground out.
♦
Johnathan Erickson rounded home for IWU's fourth run in the fourth inning.
♦ IWU didn't score again until the seventh inning when
Anthony Lopez scored after Frericks singled up the middle to put the score at 5-0.
♦ In the eighth, the Choctaws finally made it on the scoreboard, 5-1.
♦ Coonan scored again in the top of the ninth, extending the Titan lead, 6-1.
♦ Sophomore pitcher
Matt Hart (1-1) was credited with the wins as he struck out three and allowed four hits in seven innings.
Millsaps College Game
♦ Millsaps opened the game strong, scoring two runs in the first inning, one off a wild pitch by IWU pitcher
Nick Hahn.
♦ The Majors continued their scoring run in the second inning to jump ahead of the Titans, 3-0.
♦ Frericks scored the team's only run of the game when Czarnowski grounded an out to first base in the fourth.
♦ Millsaps scored again in the fourth, and three times in the sixth innings to seal the 8-1 win.

The Titans will face Christian Brothers University Thursday at 2 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
