Titans Clinch Share of CCIW With 44-Point Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team claimed a decisive 88-44 win at the Shirk Center over North Park on Wednesday (Feb. 6) to claim a share of the 2013 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship. It is IWU's first since 2005 and 28th overall in school history.

♦  The No. 9-ranked Titans are 19-3 overall and 11-0 in the CCIW while North Park slipped to 6-16 and 1-10 in the CCIW.

♦  Illinois Wesleyan never trailed in the game and the contest was tied only once at 14-14. IWU led by a 25-21 score with 7:47 to go in the first half before going on a 19-4 run to extend their lead to 44-25 at the break.

♦  IWU limited the Vikings to only 4 points in the first 12:00 of the second half and a total of 19 second half points. The Titans shot .705 from the field (31 of 44); the school record is .783, set at Elmhurst on Feb. 2, 1990 (36 of 46).

♦  The Titans outrebounded the Vikings 40-24 and IWU dished out 22 assists for their 31 baskets. The Vikings committed 11 turnovers and IWU admitted to 10.

♦  North Park played without their two leading scorers as Mark Holmes (16.8 ppg) and Aaron Weaver (14.9 ppg) did not participate (coach's decision).
