BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team battled Carthage to a 1-1 tie through 110 minutes at Neis Field on Wednesday, Nov. 6, but Carthage won the shootout 4-2 to advance in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament.
The Titans are 12-2-5 while the Lady Reds are 13-4-1 after their first tie of the season.
Illinois Wesleyan's only goal was a strike from the top of the box that froze the goalie from senior
Tillie Bill at the 50:24 mark on an assist from
Brie Siebert that tied the match.
Carthage's Erin Ganzke scored for Carthage just 6:21 into the match.
The Titans outshot Carthage 21-12 in the match and by a whopping 13-0 in the second half alone.

Zoie Samaan had six saves in 110 minutes in goal while Carthage's Abby Alm made nine saves.
Carthage will play at Wheaton on Saturday for the automatic qualifier berth. The top-seeded Thunder got a goal in the last 30 seconds to win 1-0 over Augustana Wednesday.
The Titans would hope for an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III tournament, with the field being announced at 12:30 p.m. (Central) on Monday, Nov. 11 at
NCAA.com.
