IWU Women's Soccer Shuts Out NCC, CCIW Semis Next

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – In the final regular season match for the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team, the Titans dominated North Central in a 2-0 shutout on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon at Bendetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill.
 
The victory will lead Illinois Wesleyan (12-2-4 overall, 5-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) into hosting a match against Carthage (13-4-0, 5-2 CCIW) in the CCIW championship semifinals on Wednesday (Nov. 6). Match time at Neis Field is to be determined. IWU is the tournament's No. 2 seed and Carthage is No. 3.
 
In the match, Illinois Wesleyan had six shots on goal to the Cardinals' four. Freshman Alison Seger, assisted by senior Tillie Bill, was the first to successfully get the ball into the net in the 13th minute to put the Titans ahead 1-0.
 
In the second period, junior Brie Siebert connected to push the Titans ahead by a 2-0 score. Siebert was assisted by freshman Skyler Tomko with 45:12 on the clock.
 
IWU senior goalkeeper Zoie Samaan had four saves in her 90-minutes of play, while North Central's Nicki Seiton (67:01) and Jacqueline Clore (22:59) had three and one saves, respectively.
 
 The other CCIW semifinal pits No. 4-seed Augustana at No. 1 Wheaton in a 7 p.m. match. The championship will be on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the site of the highest remaining seed.
