Illinois Wesleyan vs. Trinity NCAA Women's Soccer Photo Gallery
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The NCAA Division III women's soccer second round game between Illinois Wesleyan and Trinity University (Texas) concluded in a 1-1 tie, and was decided on penalty kicks, 5-4, in the Tigers' favor early Monday (Nov. 18) afternoon at Neis Field.
After two overtimes, the No. 14-ranked Titans (13-2-6) were outdone by the No. 2-ranked Tigers (22-0-2) during the first round of penalty kicks, ending IWU's postseason run. The Titans finished the 2013 season with a 9-0-3 record on their home pitch.
After a scoreless first half in regulation play, Illinois Wesleyan struck first as senior
Tillie Bill headed the ball across the left side to connect with the back of the net in the 72nd minute, assisted by sophomore forward
Sydney Fox, to put the score at 1-0.
The Tigers followed suit with 81:54 on the clock when Emily Jorgens also knocked a header back, assisted by Kelsey Falcone. The goal was Jorgens' 18th of the season.
Jorgens also made the decisive penalty kick for Trinity. Shelby Hopkins, Michelle Lanier, Yasmeen Farra and Kimberly Polasek also connected in the PK round.

Ashley Montijo made the shootout penalty kicks for the Titans.
Trinity had an 18-4 edge in shots with 14 shots on goal to two for IWU. Titan senior keeper
Zoie Samaan made 12 total saves in 110 minutes, several on acrobatic plays that halted scoring chances.
Trinity heads back home and will host the NCAA Sectional round and will play against Montclair State (20-0-1) on Nov. 22 at McGinley Soccer Field in San Antonio, Texas. The Wheaton Thunder (19-4-2) will take on Emory (16-3-1) in the other round of 16 match at that site.
