KENOSHA, Wis. - A .038 hitting percentage doomed the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team in a three-set College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin loss at Carthage on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
The Titans, who lost for the fifth straight time and slipped to 9-11 overall and 0-3 in the CCIW, fell by scores of 15-25, 20-25, 10-25. The Lady Reds improved to 15-9 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW. IWU had beaten Carthage in four sets on Sept. 21 in a nonconference match at the Shirk Center.
"Despite the loss, we saw some positives compared to last week's losses," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "Right now we have several starters battling some injuries. Hoping with a week off before our next match that we might be able to heal and finish the season strong."
IWU had 29 total kills and 25 errors in 105 total attempts for the .038 hitting average, Carthage had a .321 hitting mark. IWU had a -.094 hitting mark in the third set, collecting six kills against nine errors in 32 attempts.
