IWU Men's Soccer Falls Short to North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team ran out of time for a comeback, falling, 2-1, to North Park Wednesday (Oct. 23) night in the City, as Eric Gilbert scored the only Titan goal.
 
IWU is 8-6-3 and 2-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Vikings improve to 10-4-2 and 3-1-1 in the CCIW.
 
NPU got off on the right foot, scoring its first goal 13:43 minutes into the match when Jonas Pettersson scored down the center.
 
Just one minute after the second period opened, the Vikings struck again extending their lead to 2-0 when Mike Herbst hit the bottom center of the goal.
 
The Titans created offensive action in the 62nd minute, getting on the scoreboard for the first and last time of the game. IUW's Gilbert successfully shot from 15-yards back to reach the back of the net and conclude the match at 2-1.
 
IWU's Andrew Reed had six saves in his 90-minutes of action, while the Vikings' Wesley Woodley saves eight balls.
 
The Titans will celebrate Seniors' Day Saturday (Oct. 26) when they host Carthage at Neis Field at 5:30 p.m.
