WHEATON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team opened the match against Wheaton strong, however, the Titans were unable to hold off No. 9-ranked Wheaton College Saturday (Oct. 19) evening, 2-1.

IWU now stands at 8-6-2 and 2-2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The Thunder are 12-3-1 and 3-0-1 in the league.

In the sixth minute, Titan junior
John Pisani successfully shot past Wheaton goalkeeper Derek Babb, assisted by
Eric Gilbert, to put IWU ahead early, 1-0.

The Thunder, however, held the Titans off the rest of the match, scoring at the 8:28 marker when Josh Clark equalized from range to tie the match, 1-1, which is how it stood at the half.

In the second period, Wheaton's Stephen Golz connected with the back of the net to secure the 2-1 victory.

Andrew Reed tallied five saves in 90-minutes of play. Babb accounted for two saves.
