Titan Men's Hoops Comes From Behind to Outdo Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – In the second battle between the Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana men's basketball teams, the Titans came from behind to take their second victory, 71-65, Wednesday (Jan. 30) night against the Vikings in Rock Island, Ill.
 
The Titans are 17-3 and 9-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The last time IWU sported a 9-0 standing in the CCIW was during the 1995-96 season. The Vikings fall to 15-5 and 5-4.
 
♦ The first half was an offensive exchange between the Titans and Vikings, however Augie led most of the way, jumping ahead by as much as seven points, 22-15, with 8:14 on the clock.

♦ The Titans trailed, 35-30, at the halftime buzzer.

♦ IWU concluded the first half 12-for-29 from the field, 16.7 percent from behind the arc and 62.5 percent from the free throw line.

♦ Augie outscored IWU for a majority of the second half, as the Titans trailed by 16, 59-43, with 9:31 to go.

♦ However, from around the nine minute marker until the final seconds, IWU outscored the Vikings 28-6, as Dylan Overstreet scored 10 of the Titans' points.

♦ With just over three minutes on the clock, IWU took over the lead and were able to hold it until the buzzer, when the team won by six points.
