BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - In a game that saw 13 lead changes, the Illlinois Wesleyan men's basketball team improved to 7-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play with a 69-61 win over North Central at the Shirk Center on Wednesday (Jan. 23).
♦ The No. 16-ranked Titans are 15-3 overall while No. 5-ranked North Central slipped to 5-2 in the CCIW and 16-2 overall.
♦ Illinois Wesleyan trailed by as many as five at at 24-19 with 10:30 to play in the first half but rallied to claim a 41-38 advantage at intermission.
♦ The Titans extended to their largest lead of eight points with 13:50 to play in the game at 49-41 before the Cardinals came back to tie the game for the 10th time at 55-55. The game was tied again at 59-59 with 3:34 left but
Kevin Reed scored four points and
Dylan Overstreet scored three as IWU outscored North Central 10-2 in the final minutes.
♦ Illinois Wesleyan won the rebound war 40-28 and had 18 second chance points to 8 for the Cardinals. North Central committed only eight turnovers in the game compared to 13 for the Titans.
