BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team remains perfect in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin after defeating Carthage, 82-65, Saturday (Jan. 12) evening at the Shirk Center.
IWU extends its record to 12-3 and is an undefeated 4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Carthage drops to 6-9 and 1-3 in the conference.
♦ The first half went back and forth offensively as the lead changed four times, but the Titans went on a 14-0 run lasting just under seven minutes to jump ahead of the Red Men, 26-12, with 8:14 on the clock.
♦ The mid-half cushion propelled IWU to a 15-point lead heading into halftime, 43-28. The Titans shot 56 percent from the field, 58.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.
♦ Similarly to the latter part of the first half, IWU controlled much of the second half, maintaining a healthy lead over the Red Men. IWU extended by as much as 20 points with 2:31 on the clock after an
Andrew Ziemnik jumper.
♦ The Titans concluded the game 48 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point land, and 90 percent from the charity stripe.
