NORMAL, Ill. – Due to wet field conditions, the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team took its game against Monmouth a couple miles down the road at the Corn Crib to play on artificial turf, where the Titans won 6-1 Wednesday (Sept. 5).
IWU (2-0-0) entered the half ahead of the Fighting Scots (0-3-0), 3-0.
Adam Flaugher headed the ball into the left corner to score the first goal for the Titans with 21:08 on the clock, thanks to an assist from
Danny Kenny.
Jared Krebs followed with a shot to the same corner minutes later with the assist form
Matt LaLonde to put IWU up, 2-0. With 33:42 on the clock,
Declan Geraghty chipped over Monmouth's goalie, heading the ball into the goal to wrap up the half.
After the 10-minute break,
Kyle Gorgol scored a goal for the Titans, followed by a
Jeremy Albert goal. Albert beat the Fighting Scots' goalie to the ball after an assist from
Sam Peniak.
Colin Rathe scored the final Titan goal in the right corner of the goal, just before MC's Tony Swierczewski put the only ball into the IWU goal to conclude the game.

Tim Hegwood combined for five saves, to Monmouth's Konor Tempel's 10 saves.
The Titans will return to action Sept. 8 against Central College at Pella, Iowa. Game time is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
