BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Four players found the scoring column as the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team won its second straight game, a 4-1 decision to open conference play against North Central at Neis Field on Saturday (Sept. 29).
The Titans improved to 3-5-0 this season and 1-0-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Cardinals slipped to 3-5-1 and 0-1-0 in the league.
Sophomore
Julie Govedarica opened the scoring just 1:33 into the match when she got her first goal of the season on a shot from 18 yards away.
Junior
Hannah Ketterling scored at 10:01 on assists from Govedarica and senior
Emily Hinchman and IWU took a 3-0 lead into the halftime break when Hinchman scored on a header after a cross from Ketterling at 26:12.
Sophomore
Tess Bottorff got her second goal of the year at 49:38 when she headed in a free kick with the assist to sophomore
Alex Nasca.
North Cenral's only score came with just 1:19 left to play on the sixth goal of the year from Hope Stayer.
Illinois Wesleyan outshot the Cardinals, 16-5, and IWU starting junior goalkeeper
Zoie Samaan had no saves in the first half while freshman
Amanda Macuiba played the second half and made two saves and allowed the lone North Central goal.
The Titans are back in action tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 30) with a 4 p.m. non-conference game against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
