BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team got 14 kills from sophomore
Maddie Greybar in a four-set home win over College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Carthage on Wednesday (Sept. 26).
The Titans won by scores of 26-24, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22 and evened their overall record at 9-9 and improved to 1-2 in the conference.
"Tonight was the first time that we played consistently from the start to the finish," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "It was exciting to see the team play so relaxed and intense. This is the win that we needed to get us back on track."
Sophomore
Kinzie Schweigert added 13 kills and senior
Alex Hill provided 11.
Senior
Stephanie Polich made a team high 15 defensive digs while Greybar had 11 and Schweigert added 10. Junior setter
Erin Wachtel had 46 set assists and sophomore
Morgan Howard had a total of six blocks.
Carthage (8-7, 1-2 CCIW) came into the match tied for 21st in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll. Angelica Walinski and Genelle McFarland each had 10 kills to lead the Lady Reds.
The Titans are idle until next Wednesday (Oct. 3) when they host North Park at 7 p.m.
