ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team, ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division III Central Region, knocked off Webster, 4-2, on the Gorloks' turf in St. Louis, Mo., Wednesday (Sept. 26) evening in front of a crowd of 178.
The Titans (7-1) took advantage of Webster (3-4-1) in the first half, scoring at the 27:05 marker with a goal by
John Horstman, assisted by
Nate Bell, to take the lead 1-0.
In the second half, the Gorloks' Pat McCaffery scored with a ground cross with a pop in pass by Clint Carder with 50:42 on the clock. IWU responded less than a minute later with a header off a free kick by
Declan Geraghty, to bring the score to 2-1, Titan lead.
Matt LaLonde built off Geraghty's momentum to score another IWU goal at the 53:30 marker to put the Titans up 3-1.
Webster's Taylor Overstreet scored on IWU goalie
Tim Hegwood off a free kick with 72:54 on the clock to give the Gorloks their second goal of the game.

Colin Rathe helped secure the Titans' seventh win of the season at the end with a goal at the 89:44 point, to give them the 4-2 victory.
Hegwood finished the game with one save, while Webster's Brian Woodward had seven.
The Titans will resume action Saturday (Sept. 29) at Neis Field against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe North Central at 7:30 p.m.
