KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team split a pair of four-set matches on the first day of the Carthage College Women's Volleyball Invitational at Tarble Fieldhouse in Kenosha, Wis., beating St. Norbert after losing to Dominican.
Illinois Wesleyan beat Dominican 25-18 in the first set before losing the next three, 23-25, 24-26, 18-25 and then lost the first set to St. Norbert, 10-25, before coming on to win the final three 25-21, 25-21, 25-11.
The Titans have a 6-6 overall record.
"We started off the first match against Dominican strong but then started playing afraid to lose," said Titan head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "The momentum and adjustments changed after the first set against St. Norbert and the team finally got into a good tempo. Our attitudes and energy definitely changed for the better. I'm hoping the team can continue that into our two matches tomorrow."

Kinzie Schweigert led IWU against Dominican with 12 kills while sophomore
Maddie Greybar had 10 and senior
Alex Hill had nine kills and a team-high three blocks.
Junior
Erin Wachtel provided 42 set assists and senior
Stephanie Polich led the Titans with 25 defensive digs.
In the win over St. Norbert, Greybar had team-bests 16 kills and 16 digs. Hill added 13 kills and Schweigert jad nine. Sophomore
Morgan Howard had eight total blocks, including four solo, and sophomore
Cydnee Mann had six blocks.
Wachtel again had 42 assists and Polkic made 14 digs.
The Titans will play Saturday at 10 a.m. against the No. 13-nationally ranked University of Chicago and again at 12 p.m. against St. Mary's (Ind.).
