BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team downed Washington U. 2-1 at Horenberger Field on Tuesday (April 24). Anthony Kopp preserved the win with his second save.

The No. 27-ranked Titans improved to 21-10 while the Bears are 24-12.

Illinois Wesleyan scored its two runs in the fourth inning, which opened with two out before junior Anthony Lopez singled up the middle. Junior shortstop Zach Scott singled through the right side and sophomore centerfielder Jon Frericks singled to right field to bring home Lopez and send Scott to third. Junior catcher A.J. Nathan singled to right field to score Scott and provide the eventual margin of victory.

Sophomore Matt Conrad (2-2), the second of seven IWU hurlers, was the winner as he pitched a scoreless fourth. Junior Anthony Kopp picked up his second save of the year, and his second in as many games, by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Titans return to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Friday (April 27) with a single game against Augustana at 6 p.m. in Rock Island.
