Illinois Wesleyan Baseball Suffers First Loss of 2012

CLINTON, Miss. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team lost for the first time in 2012, dropping an 8-6 decision at Mississippi College at Frierson Field in Clinton, Miss., on Monday (March 12).

The Titans, who used nine pitchers in the game, are 4-1 while the Choctaws, who used 10 hurlers, improved to 8-10.

Junior shortstop Zach Scott and sophomore designated hitter Bobby Czarnowski each had three hits to pace an 11-hit attack. Junior catcher A.J. Nathan had runs batted in in the seventh and ninth innings.

The pitching loss got hung on freshman Dan Truesdale (0-1), who pitched the third inning and allowed a run on two hits.

Illinois Wesleyan is off until Thursday when it plays a 2 p.m. single game at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.
