WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team came out of the gates swinging against Wheaton in the semifinal round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, but the Thunder's offense gave the Titans little hope, as they shut IWU out, 5-0, Wednesday (Oct. 31) night.

With an 11-6-0 overall record, there is a remote chance for IWU to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III men's soccer playoff. The bracket announcement will be at noon on Monday (Nov. 5) at ncaasports.com.

Wheaton's Chad Musgraves scored the first goal of the match, chipping it over IWU goalie Andrew Reed, for a 1-0 lead over the Titans.

IWU and Wheaton wrapped up the first 45 minutes in a close fight, but the Thunder got into some offensive momentum in the second half with a shot off the post from Stephen Golz, his fifth goal of the season, to put Wheaton up, 2-0, at the 72:07 marker.

Just a couple minutes later, the Thunder struck again when Musgraves knocked the ball in the back of the net to give his team the 3-0 lead.

Musgraves continued his hot streak to score his third goal of the game, for a hatrick, at the 80:46 point. Wheaton's Jason Bhatta wrapped up the game with a final goal shooting just ouside the box to give the Thunder the 5-0 victory.

Reed had six saves, while Thunder goalie Ryan Seager had three saves.

Wheaton will face North Park Saturday (November 3) for the CCIW Championships match.
