Titans Lose 3-0 in CCIW Volleyball Play-In Match

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost a three-set decision to Millikin on Tuesday (Oct. 30) in the play-in match for the weekend College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament.

The Titans' season ends with a record of 18-15 as they fell to the Big Blue by scores of 20-25, 12-25, 18-25. Millikin improved to 25-9 and is the No. 4 seed in the CCIW tournament will face No. 1 seed Elmhurst on Friday.

"It's always disappointing to see your season end let alone the way ours did tonight," said IWU head coach Kim Nelson-Brown. "One match doesn't define the season we had. I'm proud of how this team battled from the first day all the way through the last.  As a coach, I can't ask for anything else."

Senior Alex Hill had a team-high seven kills with two blocks and senior Eryn Finet contributed four kills. Junior setter Erin Wachtel had 20 set assists and seven digs while senior Stephanie Polich led IWU with 13 digs. Sophomore Morgan Howard also had two total blocks.

In the match IWU hit .046, making 23 kills in 108 attempts with 18 errors. Millikin had a .384 hitting percentage with a total of 43 kills in 86 tries. Jade Becker had 18 kills to lead the Big Blue attack.
