WHITEWATER, Wis. - In the second and final day of the Warhawk Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater, the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team went 1-1, defeating Edgewood College after falling to University of Wisconsin River Falls Saturday (Oct. 20).

"In the UW-River Falls match, we started off really slow. To be able to turn that match into five sets was encouraging," IWU head coach Kim Nelson-Brown said. "The momentum we were building near the end carried over into our match against Edgewood. Hopefully ending on a win will be the key to a successful last week of our season."

The Titans were dropped by UW River Falls in five sets,  22-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-21, 12-15. IWU led in the third and fourth matches, but fell by a three-point deficit in the fifth and final set.

IWU's Alex Hill and Maddie Greybar led the team in kills, each with 12. Hill also tallied 11 total blocks (one solo, 10 assists), which is tied for second most in an IWU five-set match with Nicole Walsh (vs. Millikin in 2004).
Senior libero Stephanie Polich led the Titans in digs with 21.

Against Edgewood College, the Titans were able to steal the victory in four sets, 25-22, 25-12, 27-29, 25-20. IWU won all sets.

Hill again led the Titans in kills with 16, while Greybar and Polich led in digs with 21 apiece.

IWU will resume action Wednesday (Oct. 24) against Millikin in a "Seniors' Night" match at 7 p.m. in the Shirk Center.
